We will explore several areas along the Shuswap River from Grindrod north towards Mara Lake. There should be many species of waterfowl on the river and adjacent farmlands. If the water is clear, we may be able to see First Nations salmon weirs in the river at Wildflight Farms.

This event is the annual Christmas Bird Count.

Along with Nature Kids BC we will conduct a Christmas Bird Count for children.

Through several short hikes, we will explore late-season spawning grounds along the Shuswap River and look for birds and mammals that depend on the salmon.

Mushroom expert Mitch Milgram will take us on a tour of the Park Hill trail network to introduce us to the many beautiful mushrooms and other plants that usually can be seen at this location in the autumn.

The hike will explore the north slope of Mt Ida at a time when fall colours will be at their peak.
